Getting To the “Whose Brahms?” AMS-SMT 2025 pre-conference

Please enter at the southwest entrance of Ferguson, which looks like this:

The building should be open to the public from 9 am to 5 pm. Our local host Peter Mercer-Taylor will be available (or will have a colleague or student available) to assist early arrivals.

Room 280 is on the 2nd floor. An elevator is available, conveniently located next to the stairs.

Travel directions

Public transit from the Hyatt Regency, suggested route:

  • Walk .5 miles north on Nicollet Mall to the 8th St & Nicollet Station
  • Board the 22H bus (eastbound) for Cedar-28 Ave/VA Med Ctr/Via Humboldt
  • Get off at Cedar Ave S & 3rd St S
  • Walk one block east on 3rd St (bearing right—don’t cross the bridge!) to campus. Continue east through campus .2 miles to Ferguson Hall.

  • From your drop-off point on 26th Street, walk north 250 feet, keeping Rarig Center on your left.
  • The main Ferguson Hall entrance will be on your right.

By Car

  • Park in the University of Minnesota’s 21st Avenue Ramp (pricing info here):
    • 400 21st Avenue S
      Minneapolis, MN 55455
  • Cross 4th street and head east (right), turning left just past Rarig Center.
  • Walk north 250 feet, keeping Rarig center on your left.
  • The main Ferguson Hall entrance will be on your right.

The restaurant is accessible by Public transit using the Metro Green Line:

  • Board at West Bank station, about 0.3 miles from Ferguson Hall;
  • Disembark three stops later at Nicollet Mall.
  • Walk southeast down Marquette St. South, turn right onto 7th St. (cross the street at this intersection), and the restaurant will be on your left. 

The Hyatt Regency is about a half mile from noa, for those returning to the conference hotel after dinner:

On Thursday morning 6 November, we will meet in Lakeshore C at the AMS-SMT conference hotel (the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis on Nicolette Mall). Breakfast will be provided starting at 8 am.
